Are we relying too heavily on technology?

Technology is defined as the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.  It is becoming extremely clear that our reliance on technology is becoming detrimental to our success and health. Entire organizations are brought down, simply because the Internet is not working correctly.  Server issues and hackers are only a few threats that we have to be aware of as we continue to connect all levels of our lives to the internet. We rely on the internet to connect or iphones, tvs, but even more delicate things, like our home door locks.  What happens if all of our doors are connected via the internet and an enemy has hacked into our systems locking us all in, or out?  Extreme example, but completely possible if we continue on the path we’re on.

Yesterday, July 8, 2015, The New York Stock Exchange, United Airlines and The Wall Street Journal were all taken offline due to server issues for hours.  If we want to build a world based on the use of technology, we need to be better prepared to act when technology fails us, because it will fail us.  And we need to be more proactive in creating safety measures to protect our interests and our well-being.  Maybe this is a call to slow down a bit on our technical growth and focus more on how we can make it more for secure for our usage.  Read more on what happened at the AP.

Sound off in the comments.  Do we need to slow down with the tech growth for a bit and get some focus??
